THE POWER OF GIVING BACK

The Bountiful Bag donates a portion of each sale to causes we care about. The main organization we donate to is San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative - a local environmental nonprofit that our founders helped start in order to improve the recycling system in San Diego. Each collection may benefit a different charity, depending on who we are collaborating with and/or what the social climate is like in present time.

  • Upcycling takes extra effort not only from our team, but also from the companies and individuals who collaborate with us. We are conscious that we wouldn’t be able to do what we do without our community and we are grateful for the support that is constantly given to us.

It literally takes a village to make a difference, and this is our small way of paying it forward.

  • If you have some free time on your hands and would like to help a wonderful cause, please consider volunteering for San Diego Brewcycling Collaborative. This local nonprofit is fighting to implement better recycling systems in San Diego.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The environmental benefits of upcycling are massive, aside from minimizing the volume of discarded materials and waste being sent to landfill each year, it also reduces the need for production using new or raw materials which means a reduction in air pollution, water pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and often a conservation of global resources.

  • Did you know that plastic takes hundreds of years to break down? More than 40 percent of plastic is used just once before it is thrown away and about 90% of it is not even recycled at all. The recycling system in the USA is broken and unfortunately that means our landfills are overflowing with trash and our oceans are getting more and more contaminated each and every day.

  • The fashion industry now accounts for 10% of global pollution and is second only to aviation as the world's largest industrial polluter. The chemicals used throughout the garment-making process are polluting our waterways, causing soil degradation, and poisoning animals on land and sea. Humans are also affected by the chemicals from the fashion industry, from the workers who handle the raw materials to the consumers themselves.
